The C. C. Camp Volunteer Fire Department (Station 65) was organized in November of 1980 by a group of concerned community leaders who saw the need to protect their families and homes from the threat of fire. The way they saw to do this was to develop a well rounded fire department that could help eliminate this threat. The first fire department meetings were held at the Friendship Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Plans were made for the kind of facility and fire apparatus that would be needed. They then realized the main problem that any new fire department has, and this was money. Fundraisers were discussed and were soon in the planning stages. The community Senior Citizens Club contributed in a great way. They raised a tremendous amount of money to be used towards the building and fire apparatus.

The first truck that was purchased was a 1969 Chevrolet C-50 oil truck. This truck was converted into our first fire truck. It was to be used as a tanker in conjunction with the pumper we had borrowed from a neighboring fire department. We continued to use this truck until the arrival of our first new fire engine.

In the fall of 1983 after an enormous amount of planning and fundraising, the dreams of a new fire station became reality with the completion of the new modern facility that we now call home.

In July of 1984 we received and immediately put into service our first new fire engine. It was a 1984 Chevrolet C-70 Emergency One with a 1000 gallon per minute pump and a 750 gallon booster tank. Through the years, we have added more vehicles to help serve the community more completely.

In addition to serving the community with fire protection, we try to help our community with special projects. One example of this would be our Christmas Project. Each year at Christmas the fire department, in coordination with our area churches, shares our good fortune with those less fortunate in our district. This is done through the distribution of food baskets and gifts to the needy and the elderly.

The C. C. Camp Volunteer Fire Department continues to serve the area to this day. The department now provides fire and medical protection with the hopes of expanding to medium rescue capabilities in the future. Our department is proud to be made up of mostly volunteers that give up there free time to serve others. During the week Monday through Friday we have been blessed to add a part-time paid position to better serve the community in hopes to have quicker response times to all incidents. If you feel that you may want to join the department please stop by or reach out through our website or Facebook page.

There are many people in our community that have worked extremely hard to help our fire department reach the goals we have achieved since November of 1980, but for the sake of missing someone we would just like to say thank-you to all of our hard working members, our community, and to our local industry who have so strongly supported us through the years.
